BERTA COBURN SCHOLARSHIP FUND

Berta Coburn was first introduced to sugar craft when a local community center offered a beginning cake decorating class during the late 1970's. She discovered a new medium that she could infuse with her natural artistic ability to create edible art. At that time, advanced classes were unheard of in this area. Berta's decorating experience was gained mainly through trial and error from being self-taught. Her passion to explore the limitless boundaries of an internationally recognized culinary art form has carried her on a lifelong adventure. Over the years, Berta has received numerous top awards through various cake show competitions. Her work has been featured in American Cake Decorating and Mailbox News magazines. Her flavorful masterpieces have graced the tables of many distinguished affairs. Berta is a founding member of the Cake Decorators of Tidewater, Inc. and is also a member of the International Cake Exploration Society.

All past and current members of the Cake Decorators of Tidewater are honored beneficiaries of Berta's outstanding contribution and dedication to our club. Our goal is to continue to provide encouragement to all members with a desire to pursue advanced techniques in sugar craft by offering this scholarship fund.
